Top Derby Kennel of 2024
Green River Retrievers has just wrapped up our most remarkable year yet! For the second year in a row, we were honored to be named the #1 Derby Kennel of 2024, finishing the year with an impressive 170 total points, & 15 wins.
In the Open, our team achieved outstanding results with 3 wins, 5 second-place finishes, 2 thirds, and 2 fourths. Additionally, we qualified 9 dogs as All-Age, an incredible milestone, with 5 of them still competing in the Derby.
This success would not have been possible without the support and dedication of so many people. First and foremost, I want to thank my wife, Nyree Patton, for her tireless hard work and unwavering commitment. A huge thank you also goes to my amazing assistants, Holden Salls and Jacob Breaux, for their incredible effort, dedication, and passion. I’m truly grateful for everything you do to make Green River Retrievers thrive.
I also want to express my deepest gratitude to our clients for trusting us with their dogs—it’s an honor to be part of their journey. Finally, I want to thank the real stars of this operation: the dogs. They give their heart and soul to me every single day, and it’s truly awe-inspiring to witness what these incredible animals are capable of achieving.

The 2023 National Derby has come to an end. Billie owned by Jory Liddiard gave it one hell of a swing and was a finalist, but in the end came up short of winning. I can’t say enough about this little girls heart, marking ability, and her desire to please she is truly the epitome of what a Labrador should be, it brings chills to my spine thinking about her performance. Keep your eye on Billie as she continues her Derby career she has till mid March to run and allready has 27 points . There are so many people to thank first and for most is my wife Nyree Patton day in and day out her unwavering support is mind boggling thank you babe i love you so much. My assistant Holden Salls for all his hard work and holding down the fort while we were gone, next year is going to be your year buddy. Joey Harrison my bird boy this kid has a cannon for an arm and will work from Sun up to sun down. Lyle Steinman for allowing us to use his beautiful property to pre national on. Finally my pre national training group Charlie Hulme, David Goff, Andy Jackson,Peet Reynolds, & John Gammon. We had a great time can’t wait to do it again

I want to give a big shout out to our young dog crew of 2022. We ended up with #2nd in the kennel standing with 75 points. I want to thank my beautiful wife, Nyree Patton for all her support and hours and hours of throwing birds. Anyone that has seen her throw knows what I’m talking about 💪🏿. I also want to thank my main bird boy, Jo Jo ( Joey Harrison ). The kid is a beast. Thank you buddy for all your hard work.
